This workshop explores the challenges and complications of predominant aggressor screening for domestic violence counselors, advocates, and interventionists. Assessment is not something that ends at law enforcement response, although decisions from these systems have direct impacts on DV work with both victims/survivors and perpetrators. This training is designed to explore complications, confusions, and challenges behind DV assessment. Conversations from this training will open doors to asking useful and clarifying questions, understanding attitudes and motives of those being assessed, and identifying personal bias that can undermine appropriate screening and investigation into domestic violence.
